Media effects on children

     Hi. My name is Emma and I am a freshman at University of New York in Prague. As a 19-year old Communication and Media student, media, in general, has been a big part of my life, not only as a consumer but also as someone who wants to know what is behind the curtains.

    I believe my generation was probably the last one that grew up without social media as preadolescents, but later on, as an adolescent, social media became a vital part of our childhood. While it is safe to say that social media has quite a lot of benefits, I realized that the way I perceived the world and myself was influenced by media, not necessarily in a positive way.

     With this blog, I would like to raise awareness of dangers that preadolescent and adolescent children experience, that I believe we, as a society, do not talk enough and protect children who could experience the downside of media usage at an early age.
